Integration from One to Many

Via Gorlini, Milan (IT), Centre for political refugees. The aim of the course was to intervene on the existing center which now houses just 60 male refugees. It was possible to build and move walls but keeping bearing pillars.

The redesign of Gorlini Refugee Centre, Milan has concentrated on how a refugee will evolve, many through Relations in Small Groups. The design process began with an evocative image of a Spiral Shell that represents the process of integration in a new country and expresses the idea of evolution. Through a series of small group interactions a refugee will acquire the help and skill set he requires to create a new life.
